Yin Yoga: Spring Wood and Earth elements

Saturday 07 june 15:00 - 17:00

Registration below

Taught in English.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), spring is associated with the Wood element and the organs of the Liver and Gallbladder. The Liver governs the smooth flow of vital energy and blood, crucial for detoxification and emotional balance. When Liver energy flow becomes stagnant due to stress, emotional suppression,  or lifestyle detrimental to physical or moral well-being, it can lead to irritability, frustration, headaches, digestive discomfort, and even hormonal unbalances. When it's flowing harmoniously, we are more connected to our Heart. We can access states of care, imagination, and hope when facing struggle, rather than being aggressive or collapsing into apathy.

Ayurveda describes spring as the season of Kapha, associated with the qualities of Earth and Water elements - heaviness, moisture, and dense accumulation.

Both TCM and Ayurveda teach that spring is a time of awakening the Liver and reducing Kapha, specifically when we support our digestive function and use grounding practices during this transitional season.

Are you looking for a practice that can help you build your spring elements, restore balance to your Liver, and release emotional stagnation? Join us for this workshop and enjoy the vibrant renewal of the season, being more relaxed and energized.

We will explore:

  • the role of Liver in emotional health;
  • Yin sequence designed to support the Wood and Earth elements so as the organs of the Liver and Gallbladder;
  • the acupressure points essential to incorporate into your routine during seasonal transition (reducing symptoms like headaches, digestive discomfort, PMS, and stored emotional tension);
  • simple Ayurvedic self-care practices that can help you align with the season’s energy, fostering a sense of ease and clarity.

This workshop is for everyone - all levels welcome!

Style: Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a modern synthesis of Tao Yin and hatha yoga developed by Paul Grilley and Sarah Powers. In Yin yoga, floor postures are held for a long duration (3-5 minutes). On a physical level, it helps to increase the suppleness in the joints within our natural range of motion. While staying in the positions, we apply gentle pressure on the joints and relax the muscles around them. This way we affect the deep connective tissues and initiate the natural repair mechanism of the body. Energetically, Yin Yoga helps opening the body’s meridian system. It increases our vitality and harmonizes the energetic activity of the body. Go to the Yin yoga page.
