Streaming Meditation & Nidra
Every Sunday, we alternate streaming between the following:
Streaming "Breathing, Nidra Yoga & Meditation"
Mental chatter is considered the result of unconscious, conditioned thinking that has developed from a very young age, and it imposes a limited filter on reality. Meditation slowly begins to loosen the knot of that conditioned thinking giving one a sense of liberty in responding, rather than reacting, to events in one’s life. Meditation does not necessarily give one the power to change external events, but it can empower us with how to respond to those events.
- We sit for breathing practices to purify and balance our energy system.
- We lie for Nidra Yoga to install a state of deep relaxation.
- We sit to practice a traditional japa meditation with mantra.
You will need a cushion for the sitting practices and a comfortable surface, more comfortable than a yoga mat, to lie on. You can add thick blankets under a yoga mat, for example.
Streaming "Nidra Yoga"
In Nidrā Yoga, we consciously relax the muscles, organs, bones, sense organs (eyes, ears...), the process of sensing (vision, hearing...), and the various functions of the mind to to come into a field of consciousness where the sense of time, space and Ego all dissolve, and there is nothing left but the experience of oneness. It is very psychologically purifying. The normal ups and downs of life begin to affect us less and less as we attain a joyful equanimity. Aside from relaxation, Nidrā yoga also involves concentration practices to find the balance between relaxation and concentration to trigger this super-conscious state.
You will need a cushion to sit for the concentration practices and a comfortable surface, more comfortable than a yoga mat, to lie on for the relaxation practice. You can add thick blankets under a yoga mat, for example.
