A Yoga Day of Seva - City Center

Yoga La Source organizes a day of yoga programs on Sunday, June 17th to benefit the Blossomy project, a charity for survivors of human trafficking and gender-based violence in India. These charitable programs will be run throughout the day in two locations: four programs in the City Center and three in Strassen. Each program costs 10 Euros, and all proceeds will be donated to Blossomy.

Kundalini Energy Awakening: Start your day by awakening, purifying and harmonizing your energy system. We will apply Bandhas (energy locks) that gather pranic energy and direct it through the subtle energy channels. We will use the breath, visualization and concentration to tune into and balance the chakras. Then, we will relax into prolonged, soft stretches finishing with the queen and king of asanas: shoulder stand and headstand (adaptation always possible) and a deep final relaxation. Experience oneness and bliss!

10:00-11:45 Sivananda Yoga: In a Sivananda class, we start with breathing exercises to tune ourselves inward before working with the physical body. We then do the sun salutation, a cardio-vascular exercise, to warm up the body and awaken vital energy. This is followed by 12 core postures and their variations to channel and concentrate the vital energy. Between each posture, the student relaxes for a short time which allows for the vital energy to be reabsorbed. A longer guided relaxation is done at the end and brings about the overall sense of harmony and well-being one feels after class.

14:00-15:45 Vinyasa Krama: Vinyasa Krama Yoga consists of twelve major sequences. Each sequence contains a classic yoga posture and variations of movement (vinyasa) which lead to the mastery of that posture. The practice develops strength and flexibility. It improves circulation of blood, lymph and life energy (prana). It exercises all joints, muscles, and tissues of the body without stressing the heart. After, one sits for the more subtle practices of pranayama and meditation. Postures can be adapted easily to each student's level.

16:00-18:00 Integral Sivananda: Similar to the Sivananda Yoga program in the 10:00 slot, this program shortens the posture sequence, introduces additional breathing practices to deepen and steady the mind, a longer and more detailed Nidra relaxation practice, Sanskrit chanting for a vibrational effect, and meditation.

18:35-20:00 Dinner at Swagat Indian Restaurant: Join us for a vegetarian Indian buffet at Swagat on route d'Arlon in Strassen (link). Price is 20 Euros including 1 drink. Pre-payment required. You are welcome to participate at the dinner even if you do not participate in any program throughout the day.

Hatha Yoga involves physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), energy locks (bandhas), energy seals (mudras) and other practices to strengthen the physical body and to purify and balance one's energy to increase vitality, equanimity and joy of life. Go to the Hatha yoga page.

The "salle gymnastique" at Résidence Grand-Duchesse Charlotte - Konviktsgaart is a nice, quiet space facing a garden perfectly situated for our yoga classes in the city.
